Three Boston Women’s Football players — Emily Weinberg, Steph Jeffers, and Vicky Eddy — played for the national squad that defeated Team Canada 41-16 in the gold medal match. Team USA went a perfect 3-0 in the tournament having previously defeating Mexico and Finland in the qualifying rounds.

The international tournament sponsored by the International Federation of American Football (IFAF) was hosted by Football Canada in Langley, British Columbia from June 24–30, 2017. Six teams participated; Canada took silver and Mexico won bronze to stage a North American medals sweep. The next Women’s World Championship is slated for 2021.

Eddy and Jeffers previously earned gold medals as members of the 2013 national team, while Weinberg celebrated her first such achievement in the final game of her playing career. Jeffers and Eddy return to the field on Saturday, July 8 as the Boston Renegades face the Chicago Force in the National Conference Championship of the Women’s Football Alliance (WFA). Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Harry Della Russo Stadium in Revere, Mass.
