“Football has given me new friends and a chance to challenge myself in every day life,” says Finnish national Janna-Jemina Seiles, who is better known as “J.J.” Athletic accomplishment has always been a motivator for Seiles, even when she was a child. “I loved running and the competitions,” explains Seiles, “especially when there was a Snickers bar or orange juice as a prize.” She played soccer in college before pursuing football.
Seiles has come to America to deepen her skills and football knowledge with the Renegades after seven years of experience playing the sport in Finland. In 2016, she won the Women’s Maple League championship with her team, the Helsinki Roosters. And as a member of the Finland national team, Seiles has won a bronze medal at the 2013 Women’s World Championship, and a gold medal at the 2015 Women’s European Championship.
