Goodwin was nominated to be one of two U.S. Women’s National Football Team representatives to the USA Football board in a peer vote of alumnae from the team, which twice swept its way to gold medals in the IFAF Women’s World Championships in 2010 and 2013. Also nominated for one of these newly created positions on the board was Liz Okey of the Chicago Force. Both of their nominations were approved by sitting USA Football board members today at its autumn board meeting.
Of the new board positions reserved for women’s national team alumnae, Goodwin said, “We’re starting to make some headway into the world of football. Hopefully it will open more doors.”
Two alumni of the national men’s team, Cody Hawkins (Colorado University) and Matthew Oh (Dartmouth College), were elected to similar, newly created board positions. All four national team representatives are eligible to serve two consecutive three-year terms and an unlimited number of non-consecutive terms.
“The leadership, insight and experience of our board drives our nonprofit office to establish significant football firsts that benefit young athletes,” USA Football CEO and Executive Director Scott Hallenbeck said. “We welcome our new members as they propel our work in innovative and exciting ways.”
